Description
Stitch is a well educated, talented jumper and training up to elementary dressage. He has a nice temperament, is sound, in good condition and full work.
On the flat Stitch has three nice paces with a super extended trot and a walk with lovely overtrack. His canter is collected and strong. He has established flying changes and elementary training such as as walk-canter, canter-walk, leg yield, shoulder in, counter canter, turn on the fore and a very good rein back.
Stitch retired sound from racing when he was five, having been reasonably successful on the country circuit. His stallion was Dr Johnston who has produced many successfull OTT show jumpers. Stich won many EA jumping points with previous owners. He has competed up to 1.20m and has been competitive at 1.10m. He has helped his current rider transition from a 13hh pony onto her first horse competing successfully at 90cm. He has weekly lessons with NCAS level 2 coach Rebecca Thomas and has recently attended many clinics, recieving compliments on his shape and carefulness over a jump. Stich is a very adjustable horse and will ride to your stride. He is not one to take rails and is not bothered by fill.
For the last year Stitch has been attending pony club with his 14 year old rider. He gets on well with other horses and performs very well in novelties i.e. handy pony, barrel racing, bending, tent pegging, bare back and pony club mount. He is not fussed by tarps, deli curtains, gazebos, bridges or any obstacles we have tried. He is bold on cross country and isn’t fazed by ditches, water, drop fences or logs. He is fine around dogs, cats, motorbikes, vehicles and other horses. However he is not suitable for being ridden in large/ trail riding groups but is fine trail riding alone or with one or two other horses as long as he is not being held at the back of the group. He loves the beach and swimming.
He is easy to catch, shoe, float, worm and has good ground manners. He is very easy to clip and will stand for hours while being worked on and a 14 year old girl learnt how to clip on him.
Stitch would suit a lot of different uses such as pleasure riding, adult riding, pony club, show jumping, dressage or maybe even eventing.
