Description
Henry is a rising 5yo 16hh thoroughbred gelding. Henry retired from racing in April 2017 and has since been in work retraining as an eventer.
Since owning Henry, he has become well established under saddle. Henry has a very solid foundation, is forward moving and works into a contact. We have started working on leg yield, shoulder in and travers. Henry has shown himself to be a fast learner and his education to date has been correct, establishing the basics and keeping his age and ability in mind.
Henry also has a basic jumping education. He is willing and bold, confidently jumping fill. Henry has cantered small courses up to 65cm. Due to his age, I have kept the fences small with the focus on establishing rhythm and confidence.
Henry has done some cross country training and was brave with ditches, banks and drops. New obstacles he tackled confidently with the support of his rider. Henry is growing in confidence with water.
Henry has been to a number of small competitions and has placed at a couple of them. He attended the Off the Track Showman day, handling the atmosphere calmly and confidently, and placed 4th in his class. Henry attends adult riders, clinics, lessons, training days, and has been trail riding on his own and in groups. He is much the same horse where ever he goes, but as he is young and green, can get nervous.
Henry enjoys trail rides (I think they are his favourite) and is happy to trot and canter in a group. He doesn’t care if he is in front or at the back. Henry isn’t spooky and has encountered kangaroos, bandicoots, dogs, people and bike riders with no fuss.
Henry is sound, up to date with everything and is ready for a new rider to continue his education. Henry is a green horse, who needs consistent work. He will make a very nice natured competition horse.
Henry is good to catch, shoe, worm and self loads on to the float. He has been camping on many occasions. He is easy to have around and a very sweet boy.
